Wizard World New Orleans

Had a great time in the Big Easy for the Wizard World New Orleans show. It was amazing to hear that there hasn't been a decent show in close to ten years in that area, especially with the talent that I know of that lives there. The turnout itself was pretty good and the hospitality I received was even better. Had a chance to talk to one of my neighbors at the show, Marrus, awesome woman and a great artist herself. She helped making the weekend even more enjoyable. Got a chance to check out the scenery in the French Quarter area along with some very tasty food and a local Irish pub there. But anyways, I'll write more later about my New Orleans trip, but I want to post some of the con sketches I did at the show. There were a few I did for a set of twin girls that I didn't take a picture of, but that twin girls were so cute that I ended up doing a Poison Ivy and Batgirl for them. Roughly about 10 minutes each, just upper torso shots and not as detailed as I do other con sketches. But it was well worth it as I watched them watching me work in their sketchbooks. They really enjoyed watching me work. But enough talk, here are the sketches. Enjoy!

Sketchbook commission

Thought to post this one. This is one of the sketches that I put into the hardbound sketchbooks that I produce. You get one original piece of art on 2ply strathmore with each hardbound sketchbook purchased.

A double pager from FX The Lost Land

Thought I'd post an interior double pager here. I should've taken a picture of the construction of this page before I started to ink this. But oh well.

Some prelim stuff

Thought I'd post some prelim sketches here that i'm doing for commissions. These two are pretty much done as i've already inked and colored them. Maybe just a few more touch ups here and there and they'll be on their way to their owner. Also have a Batman in the works that I have yet to scan in yet. Holidays are here and I've got plenty to do in the next few weeks. I've got some Betty Page cards to finish up and some Star Wars work as well by the end of the month. More updates coming soon. Stay tuned.

A re-post of Sketchbooks available

Well, I'm doing something this year that's a bit different for me. I have two variants of my yearly sketchbook. One is a softcover perfect bound version, 112 pages and the other is a 116 page Hardcover version. Now, what sets these two books apart is that the hardcover will be in a limited number that comes with an original sketch. The original sketch will be done in grayscale. Now, the sketch can be customized with a commission if you would like it to. Some will be done with already a sketch to purchase and others will be left blank for your commission. These books will be available in April on my website and at conventions. The softcover will be priced at $25 on the website at shows and the Hardcover Special Edition sketchbook will be $50 on my site and at shows. I love how these books came out. Since it's the end of the year and am reviewing what I do every year, I have to say that I was happy as to how well both the softcover and hardcover books have done for the year. It's no million dollars or anything, but am very pleased with the reception of them both. For both editions, this is in a sense an ending and a beginning. It's a culmination of new and old and it's a way to put a wrap on the last five or 6yrs. As for the future, I have new plans and goals for this coming year that are both challenging to myself. There is always something new to discover about oneself, and I am doing mine.
Peace,
uko
